Read the articleAdam Bostock is lead audiologist and director of Alto Hearing & Tinnitus Specialists. Adam has gained extensive audiology clinical experience, working in NHS ENT clinics, alongside both adult and paediatric audiology, as well as in the private sector.
Most recently, Adam has held clinical leadership roles in the audiology private sector, as a regional manager and director of sales, and as Head of Commercial for Boots Hearingcare, before becoming lead audiologist and director of his own hearing care business, Alto Hearing & Tinnitus Specialists.
Listen to Adam in conversation with Quantic, where they delve into the world of entrepreneurship and the key ingredients for success!
Adam qualified as an audiologist from the University of Bristol, in 2009, and, following his studies, he began his career working for the NHS at Dorset County Hospital, in Dorchester.
Adam then became an audiologist for hearing aid retailer, Amplifon, where he effectively served the communities of Shrewsbury, Sutton-in-Ashfield, and Dudley, providing hearing aid fittings, counselling, and support.
Adam’s expertise caught the attention of Unitron, part of the Sonova group, which is a prominent hearing aid manufacturer. In a new role with them, he collaborated with independent businesses, offering valuable support and guidance on person-centred care and cutting-edge hearing aid technology, to ensure optimal customer experiences.
Achievements included, implementing new leadership structures, thus improving support for clinical staff and recruitment, and introducing a four day week, an industry first, promoting a culture focussed on wellbeing and people first. This increased interest in the business, and led to higher individual productivity.
Seeking new challenges, Adam transitioned to Boots Hearingcare, initially serving as a regional manager, overseeing the operations of numerous hearing care centres in the South West and Midlands, before becoming a project manager and then their Head of Commercial.
Sitting on their Development Board, Adam was responsible for ensuring that the right approach was being taken with new initiatives, and that focus was being given to those with the most urgent business need. By restructuring their product team, he increased support to audiologists in the field and improved working relationships with manufacturers.
As well as managing his teams throughout second peak of COVID 19 pandemic, Adam successfully introduced domiciliary and remote care to help support customers through challenging lockdown periods.
Completing his MBA in 2022, Adam made the bold decision to establish his own independent hearing care business, Alto Hearing & Tinnitus Specialists, the same year. As a business owner, Adam remains committed to delivering personalised and effective hearing care solutions, empowering individuals to reconnect with the world of sound and enhancing their overall quality of life.
Adam’s expertise as an audiologist extends beyond hearing aid fittings. He is highly skilled in addressing various hearing-related concerns, including ear wax and tinnitus management. His holistic approach emphasises patient well-being and focuses on creating customised treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
Adam is passionate about increasing awareness of the importance of looking after hearing health and is an active member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists, the British Academy of Audiology, and the British Society of Audiology. He is also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, ensuring the highest standards of professional practice.
